Part of what I love about being a wedding planner is experiencing new places when travelling for the weddings with which I’m involved. Before Laura and David’s wedding, I had never been to Muskoka. But this lovely couple introduced me to such a beautiful part of Ontario, and it could not have been a more picturesque backdrop for their intimate and rustic-chic wedding.

Their wedding took place at JW Marriott’s The Rosseau Muskoka, a gorgeous hotel with breathtaking views of Lake Rosseau, its islands and surrounding woodscapes. The ceremony was held on the hotel’s lawns facing the lake. A stunning birchwood chuppah, crafted by Tanya List Design and Floral, was the centrepiece for their nuptials. A roaring cheer and standing ovation, the perfect finish to their relaxed ceremony, was followed by a rush of hugs and congratulations from guests.

Although there was the occasional rain shower throughout the weekend, the clouds parted long enough for the couple’s exchange of vows and the outdoor cocktail hour on the hotel patio.. The grey skies made for some stunningly atmospheric photos shot by the talented Arthur Mola and Vanessa Paxton.

The flowers for the day, also provided by Tanya List Design and Floral, were delicate and fresh. Laura’s lovely wildflower bouquet included garden roses, soft pink dahlias, baby’s breath, and lavender. Pretty floral crowns were the ideal addition to the bridal party’s whimsical look.

The reception kicked off with the outstanding motown band Ride the Tiger and one of the most energetic Horas I have ever witnessed. Tables were set with pretty vases and jars of blush dahlias, baby’s breath, Queen Anne’s lace, blush spray roses, white astrantia, and lavender sprigs displayed on birch chargers. Place cards were set atop a sprinkling of lavender buds in wooden crates. A late night sweets table with the couple’s favourite treats and Krispy Kreme Donuts was the final hit of the night.

The evening was a true celebration, with funny and heartfelt speeches from friends and family, delicious food, and an endless dance party. But most of all, the celebration was truly complete because of the obvious love and commitment Laura and David exuded for one another. The couple beamed with happiness throughout the day. At one point in the hustle and bustle of the day, I heard the couple remark how amazing it was to see all their friends and family in one place, and how incredible it was that all these people were here for them. These are the moments in my job that are pure magic, when a couple is able to savour fully and completely the joy of their wedding day.
